About

A consulting firm built for the messy middle of growth.

We help growing businesses turn operational strain into scalable systems — vendor-neutral, practical, and senior-level. The goal is simple: a clearer way to run the business, and a plan you can actually act on.

Why we exist

Most growth problems aren’t technology problems — at first.

As a company grows from a handful of people into a real organization, the ways of working that got it there start to break. Work lives in spreadsheets only a few people understand. Systems don’t talk to each other. Reports disagree. New hires take months to get up to speed. The business is still moving, but everything takes more effort than it should.

Applied Architecture Group exists for exactly that stage. We help owners and executives make sense of the operational strain, decide what to fix first, and build systems and processes that scale — without the cost, complexity, or overhead of an enterprise consulting engagement.

What we believe

A few principles guide every engagement.

  • Business first, technology second. We start with how the business needs to run, then choose technology to support it — never the other way around.
  • Vendor-neutral, always. We don’t resell software or take platform commissions, so our recommendations are based only on what fits your business.
  • AI is practical leverage, not hype. We identify where AI and automation create real value — and where they don’t — instead of chasing the trend.
  • Plans you can act on. No 80-page deck no one reads. You walk away with clear priorities and a sequence you can put to work.
How we’re different

Senior advisory, sized for a growing business.

Vendor-neutral

No software to sell, no commissions to earn. Our only job is recommending what actually fits your business — including doing nothing new when that’s the right call.

Business-first

We lead with operations and outcomes, not tools. Technology is a means to a clearer, more scalable way of working — not the starting point.

Senior experience, right-sized

Senior architecture judgment applied at the scale the decision requires — a focused foundation for a startup, a practical roadmap for a growing business, or a bounded architecture outcome for a larger organization.

Applied Architecture Group · Ballwin, Missouri

Principal solutions architect with 20+ years inside a Fortune 30 enterprise, based in Ballwin, Missouri. He serves as principal architecture lead for a multibillion-dollar national business segment, owning production data, application, integration, automation, reliability, and governance outcomes — and he remains hands-on as an architect and engineer across Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Python, Azure, Databricks, and Quickbase rather than only directing others.

He has also owned and operated small businesses since 1999 — a car-audio retailer, then a wireless retail dealership — before founding Artificially Intelligent Nerds LLC in 2021, where he has delivered Microsoft 365 and Azure architecture, ETL and secure file-transfer work for medical-record transmission, and vendor security assessments against healthcare and government requirements.

That combination is the point: enterprise-grade architecture judgment from someone who has also made payroll in a small business. He founded Applied Architecture Group to bring that thinking to growing companies — in plain language, focused on practical outcomes rather than theory.

The firm is structured to add senior advisors as it grows, expanding the depth and range of expertise available while keeping the same vendor-neutral, business-first approach.
